What happens when we die?
Man is composed of body, spirit and soul: 1Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole SPIRIT and SOUL and BODY be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
When a person dies, his body is buried then rot, the spirit goes back to God that gave it while the soul enters Heaven or Hell the realms of comfort or torment depending on the weather the soul was saved or not to await the final Judgment.
What happen in death is clearly pictured in Luke 16:19-31. This passage tells us that there is a place of waiting.
Heaven is the dwelling place of God 2Chro 6:18, 2:6, Matt 5:34, Rev. 4:1, Acts 7:47-50, Isaiah 66:1-4, and the angels and the elects. It is this same Heaven that's refered to as Paradise in Luke 23:43, Rev. 2:7, 2Cor 12:1-4 for the Saints and for God himself in Hebrews 9:24. However this not the final or eternal Heaven as Revelation 21:1 shows us there will be a new Heaven and Earth.
Hell on the other hand according to Mark 9:46 and 48 is described as the place of torment where "their worms never die and the fire remains unquenched. Jesus calls it the outer darkness and furnace where there'll be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt 8:12,13:42,50, 22:13, 24:51, 25:30, Like 13:28. Now if you thought that was all, let me shock you; as horrid as hell's description may sound, it's only just a waiting room for the main punishments that's expected to commence after final judgement where there'll be resurrection both onto eternal life and eternal shame and contempt. (Daniel 12:2).
These places are not the final stop for man, but serve as the places of waiting.
According to Revelation 19:20, 20:10, 20:14-15, 21:8 Hell or Sheol/Hades (as refered to in the old/new testaments respectively) will be cast into the Lake of Fire which is the final destination of both Death, Hell, The Beast and The False Prophet with Satan and all Sinners whose names are not found written in the lamb's book of life.
When The LORD JESUS returns, He will separate the goats and the sheep, the sheep to His right and the goats to His left as pictured in Jesus parable in Matthew 25:31-46
This is the time He will bring the GODLY to the New Heaven and cast the WICKED together with Hell, Death, Satan the Beast and his False Prophet into the Lake of fire- This is The Judgment Day!
Jesus now holds the keys to death and Hades (Revelation 1:18). When he returns, he will open up the grave. "Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth -- those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation" (John 5:28-29). It is on this resurrection that the righteous will be resurrected with a new, immortal and incorruptible bodies.
Resurrection of all the dead, Destruction of the heaven and earth, and Day of Judgment are all teachings found in the Bible. The rapture will take place in within the twinkling of an eye. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor 15:52-54.
After judgment at the Lord’s return or Second coming eternity begins.
Where would you like to spend your eternity? Friends, now is the time to prepare for eternity. Men’s eternity is sealed at his death. After death there is NO chance or hope available for anybody. Purgatory is a false teaching. Today is the time for you to repent and be baptized for the remissions of sins and be saved. Acts 2:38; 22:16.
